Government Medical College, Miraj, established in 1962 and affiliated with MUHS, is one of Maharashtra’s oldest government medical colleges. During the visit to the Department of Physiology, students observed physiology laboratories, demonstrations of blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and reflex testing, and learned about ECG, nerve conduction, and respiratory function tests.

The visit helped students understand the direct relationship between physiology and biomedical instrumentation. Important observations included:

• ECG machines measure electrical activity of the heart.
• Pulse oximeters monitor oxygen saturation in blood.
• Bleeding and clotting time calculation
• Hemoglobin determination
